The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander is a compact crossover SUV produced by Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motors. The Mitsubishi Outlander 2025 models offer a comfortable interior and ride with an 181-horsepower four-cylinder engine and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Although the third row of the Mitsubishi Outlander does not offer enough sleeping space for adults, the first and second-row passengers can enjoy luxuries such as leather-covered seats and a panoramic sunroof. The Mitsubishi Outlander offers a variety of trims and options that allow buyers to choose features that suit their preferences and needs.

The SE model is recommended as mid-range and comes with features such as a 9.0-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and driver aids such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The Mitsubishi 2025 Outlander has achieved a five-star safety rating from the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), making it one of the safest mid-size SUVs on the market. Overall, the 2025 Outlander offers great comfort, technology, and safety features, making it competitive in the mid-size SUV segment.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander : Interior

The 2024 Outlander impresses with a well-designed and modern cabin made of the highest quality materials. While some hard plastics are available, many are not. Upscale fabrics feature luxury amenities such as semi-aniline leather upholstery. Mitsubishi is a three-row SUV that seats seven people. The front-row seats are wide and comfortable, with plenty of head and leg room. There is plenty of room for adults in the second row, although the seats are narrower and flatter than those in the front. But the Outlander’s tiny third row is the weak link. The seats are not very comfortable and there is not enough room for many adults. These seats are best left for children or used as a last resort for adults on a quick trip.

The Mitsubishi Outlander is very clear going forward, while the rear is hampered by third-row headrests and thick SUV pillars. The Outlander offers an 8.0- or 9.0-inch touchscreen, depending on trim. Both units include standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but only the latter allows users to connect their iPhones wirelessly. Apart from the charging ports under the center stack, the system has hard buttons and physical buttons for volume and adjustments.

Additional available infotainment features include a 10-speaker Bose sound system, wireless device charging, and access to the subscription-based Mitsubishi Connect app that provides remote services. The Outlander is a mixed bag when it comes to cargo space. Space behind the third-row seats is a solid 11.7 cubic feet. Folding the third-row seats opens up a respectable 33.5 cubic feet of space. With both rear rows folded, the Outlander offers 79.7 cubic feet of space. This is one of the highest power assets in the segment.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander : Engine

The standard Outlander engine is a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque. It is only compatible with continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Although the Outlander’s acceleration times are competitive with other compact crossovers, it feels unresponsive and sluggish at highway speeds, exacerbated by its gearless CVT. The Outlander drives smoothly and calmly. Its steering is well-weighted, body movements are manageable and the ride is firm. The Outlander we drove also had brakes that felt soft, but the brakes pulled the SUV from 70 mph for a class-competitive 172 feet.

Larger SUVs or pickups are better suited to towing, but the Mitsubishi can tow 2000 pounds. The EPA rates the all-wheel-drive Outlander at 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. Front-wheel-drive Oulanders see a modest improvement of 24 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. During our 75 mph freeway route, which is part of our extensive testing program, the all-wheel-drive Mitsubishi’s real-world result of 26 mpg failed the EPA rating.

2025 Mitsubishi Outlander : Safety

The Outlander receives excellent scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Mitsubishi Outlander has been designed with a strong focus on safety, offering advanced technology and robust construction. Mitsubishi is equipped with many driver assistance systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automatic emergency braking, which work together to provide situational awareness and reduce the risk of collision. Additionally, the integrity of the Outlander’s structure is reinforced with stronger materials that provide better protection in an accident. The comprehensive safety measures and commitment to passenger protection, the Mitsubishi Outlander aims to provide peace of mind to drivers and passengers.
