The 2022 Toyota GR 86 is a sports car and is one of the most exciting cars in its class. The Toyota GR 86 four-cylinder boxer engine is weak and unclean, and the interior is spartan. The rear seats of the Toyota GR 86 are almost unusable, and the trunk is small. Toyota claims that the automated versions of the GR 86 will be equipped with its own Safety Sense brand of driver assistants, rather than Subaru’s EyeSight driver assistance suite. This means that the GR will be equipped with feature technology that includes tools to help modern cars and customized cruise control, emergency braking, road warning and long beam assistance.

Like the Subaru BRZ, Toyota GR 86 designers also preferred to make things relatively simple. The first-generation model didn’t break any design ground, and its successor won’t work either. The more compact version of the 2022 GR 86, which is about an inch longer and about half an inch lower than its predecessor, looks good in combination with the torch wheel belts and the new front grille with GR-specific functional matrix pattern.

Inside, it remains very minimalist in terms of GR 86 interior design. The digital and analog combination instrument panel is located behind a thick filler wheel with very simple controls. The central set is similarly cluttered, only decorated with climate control and a series of toggle buttons. Upgraded bucket seats still have aggressive supportive features to keep you on a tight turn, this is another upgrade.

Toyota GR 86 Premium trim features seats made of artificial suede and leather. The photos show leather-stitched fillings and improved touch points, which greatly help to improve the look and feel of the GR 86 interior. And for those who need a little more practicality than a sports coupe, the GR 86 will continue to offer flat folding rear seats to increase cargo capacity. The 8-inch central touch screen will be able to connect Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphones. The six-speaker audio system is standard, with the highest Premium trim level being the eight-speaker system.

The 2022 GR 86 comes with a naturally horizontally opposite four-cylinder provided by Subaru. Acceleration was very fast on the model, which went from 60 mph in 6.2 seconds, but thanks to the 2.4-liter engine with 228 horsepower, the 2022 model should be a little faster. The six-speed manual GR 86 serves as a standard gearbox, while the six-speed automatic is optional. 2022 did not receive fuel economy calculations from 86 EPA, but the latest generation received 24 mpg city, 32 mpg highway and 27 mpg readings when equipped with a six-speed automatic. The handmade model also almost didn’t work.

Key safety features may include adaptive cruise control, vehicle emergency braking, and on-road warning systems. The outgoing Toyota 86 had little effect on the driver support features. Toyota will present a set of safety technologies for 2022, but only when the GR 86 is equipped with its own optional automatic transmission.
