The 400d has E-ACTIVE body-controlled suspension combined with the newly developed AIRMATIC air suspension. The company claims this is the only system on the market where the spring and damping forces can be controlled individually at each wheel. This means that it not only inhibits body rolling but also pitch and squat.

The 2023 Mercedes GLE 450 features a 362-horsepower turbocharged inline-six with an effortlessness that the base engine can’t match. This engine pulls confidently – it takes 5.5 seconds from zero to 60 mph – and feels like it has backup power, even when passing other vehicles on the highway. This is partly thanks to the 48-volt mild-hybrid system (EQ Boost), which can provide an extra surge of torque when accelerating and at the same time reduce fuel consumption in stop-and-go driving.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE an overall safety rating of five out of five. The GLE earned five stars in the front and side crash tests, as well as four stars in the rollover test. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not evaluated the 2023 GLE at this time, but the nearly identical 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLE scores well across the board.
