2024 Lotus Emira
The 2024 Lotus Emira is a sports car produced by the British automaker Lotus Cars. The 2024 Lotus Emira is intended to be the firm’s ultimate vehicle powered by an internal combustion engine. The Emira was launched in Hethel, England on July 6, 2021, and was subsequently unveiled at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on July 8, 2021. Evora will replace Exige and Elise.
Following its debut, the Hethel-based company has revealed the GT4 race car equivalent that will make its track debut in 2022, replacing the old Evora GT4. The Emira’s design bears a few similarities to the Evija, Lotus’ high-performance car introduced in 2019. The 2024 Lotus is gearing up for an all-electric future, as previewed by the Evija hypercar.
The successor to the Evora GT, currently the only Lotus sold in the US, Emira has a more practical, much nicer interior and offers active safety equipment for the first time. The entry-level Emira gets a 360-horsepower turbo-quad, while Lotus offers a 400-pony supercharged V-6 and a manual gearbox. This means that the Emira competes with Porsche’s 718 Cayman and certain 911 variants.
2024 Lotus Emira : Interior
Inside, the 2024 Emira’s interior is both minimalist and intimate. The driver faces an angular steering wheel and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. Likewise, the automaker is trying to make getting in and out of its latest sports car easier by making the door sills narrower and the door openings wider than on the Evora GT. Other practical improvements include a pair of cup holders in the center console and storage bins in the doors, each of which can allegedly house a half-liter bottle.
The 2024 Emira’s infotainment system will operate via a 10.2-inch touchscreen mounted in the center of the instrument cluster. Apart from the controls on the steering wheel and the possibility of voice commands, there are no physical controls for adjusting the volume or tuning the stereo. Besides 12-volt and USB charging ports, the sports car will feature standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone functionality.
2024 Lotus Emira : Engine
The Emira will be one of two motors: a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-chamber or a supercharged 3.5-liter V-6. It has been confirmed that the new Emira will go on sale in March 2022 and will come with a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 from Toyota. Power figures are 406 PS (299 kW; 400 hp) and 430 N⋅m (320 lb-ft) of torque. Available in 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic. Later, a smaller 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) from Mercedes-AMG will be available for the new Emira with 365 PS (268 kW; 360 hp). The EPA hasn’t released Emira’s fuel economy estimates, and we didn’t get a chance to test ourselves on our 75 mph highway fuel economy route.
