The 2024 Tesla Model 3 is a compact, battery-powered executive sedan manufactured by Tesla. The 2024 Tesla Model 3 is the smallest and cheapest car ever made by the California-based electric car maker. The Model 3’s size and more than 270 miles of range on basic equipment make it a solid city dweller, and Tesla’s nationwide network of Supercharger fast-charging stations make it a capable road traveler.

The combination of a spacious interior, smooth ride, and fast acceleration make it a well-balanced EV. It also doesn’t have a lot of direct competition, as most of the emerging EV market has entered the SUV space. For customers looking for a more economical option, the Polestar 2 is worth a look in the luxury EV space like the Chevrolet Bolt or Hyundai Ioniq 6. But no one has fully threaded the needle-like Tesla.

Tesla models are surprisingly simple, with almost everything controlled by the solid touchscreen in the middle of the instrument cluster. The front seats are supportive and comfortable, but the rear seats are low, cramped, and uncomfortable; Do not expect adults to be able to spend long periods in it. Folding the 60/40 split-folding rear seats is simple and significantly expands the boot. The Model 3’s seatbacks also fold flat, providing a seamless cargo floor for transporting larger items. With the rear seats folded down, the Model 3 provides enough space for 15 hand luggage. There are also generously sized bins and compartments throughout the cabin.

Navigation, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity are standard, but the Model 3, oddly enough, is not available with AM radio or SiriusXM satellite radio. Various internet streaming radio options are standard. It also cannot be equipped with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. To make charging station placements more bearable, the Model 3 offers a wealth of entertainment options on its central display, including Netflix, YouTube, and a host of arcade games.

The Model 3 EV comes with an electric motor that delivers a powerful pulse from the stop function. Like all Teslas, the Model 3 carries its battery below the ground, which keeps its center of gravity low. Three different Model 3 equipment are offered, each with a different estimated driving range. The basic rear-wheel drive model is the most affordable, with a claimed range of 272 miles. The 2024 Model 3 offers several different options for charging. Tesla’s network of fast charging stations called Superchargers, adapters for common DC charging stations, 240 and 120-volt outlets, and a home charging station. Various versions of the Tesla Model 3 are rated by the EPA between 113 MPGe and 138 MPGe. But our test car only managed 84 MPGe when we put it in our 75 mph highway fuel economy test. The Model 3 comes standard with aluminum wheels covered with plastic aerodynamic hubcaps.

The upgraded Tesla Model 3 will no doubt offer the latest version of Tesla’s considered impressive but inconsistent Autopilot driver assistance package. The 2024 Model 3 will retain IIHS Top Safety Pick+ status, assuming it scores well in the updated side test, which will join the TSP criteria for 2023. While we question whether the autopilot name is misleading or not, the driver assistance system has one of the best feature sets in the industry with smooth operation and impressive capabilities such as automatic lane changing. Key safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and a lane departure warning system.
