The 2017 Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione is a sports car produced by Italian automotive manufacturer Alfa Romeo between 2007 and 2010. The car uses a unique platform that shares several components with the Maserati GranTurismo. The drivetrain features a Ferrari/Maserati-derived cross-plane, wet sump lubricated 4.7 L (4,691 cc) 90° V8 engine assembled by Ferrari. The best engine performance figures can be summarized as a maximum power output of 331 kW (450 PS; 444 hp) at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 480 N⋅m at 4,750 rpm with a 7,500 rpm engine redline and 7,600 rpm speed limiter. The V8 engine has variable timing, intake valves, and an 11.3:1 compression ratio. The six-speed transaxle transmission has computerized gear selection via paddles on the steering column and can be used in Manual-Normal; Manual-Sport; Auto-Normal; Auto-Sport and Wet modes. The gearbox can change gears in 175 milliseconds when Sport mode is selected. The car also has a limited-slip differential.
2017 Alfa Romeo 8C : Performance
The 8C Competizione is equipped with specially developed 20-inch tires: 245/35 at the front and 285/35 at the rear, wrapped around perforated wheels made of liquid-molded aluminum. The car’s brakes with Brembo carbon-ceramic units have been called “outstanding” by Road & Track magazine, with a stopping distance of 32 m (105.0 ft) at an initial speed of 97 km/h (60 m). The official top speed is officially stated to be 292 km/h (181 mph), but it could be higher, with estimates of around 306 km/h (190 mph) according to Road & Track magazine.
The last Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was delivered to the United States by an Italian-American car collector from the Boston area. The late Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne owned both the 8C Competizione and the 8C Spider. Fiat President and owner John Elkann also has an 8C Competizione in a special look called the Blu Oceano, which is part of the Maserati color range.
