2023 Kia Borrego
The 2023 Kia Borrego or 2023 Kia Mohave is a sports utility vehicle (SUV) manufactured by South Korean manufacturer Kia. The 2023 Kia Borrego comes with a choice of powerful engines, high towing capacity, reasonable fuel economy from the V8, and quiet driving. The vehicle was launched in the Korean and US markets in 2008. The Kia Borrego mid-size SUV is available in two main trim levels, LX and EX.
Rear-wheel drive Borrego LX V6 models come as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, reversing warning system, integrated tow bar, air conditioning, full power accessories, cruise control, tilt/engineered steering column, and CD/MP3 player, satellite radio, Six-speaker audio system with USB port and auxiliary jack. 2023 Borrego EX V6 equipment adds fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, an eight-way power driver’s seat, a four-way power passenger seat, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The Borrego V8 models are also available in the same LX and EX trim levels and are very similar in equipment, but come standard with 18-inch wheels. All-wheel drive models are similarly equipped and also have a windshield defroster. In terms of options, there’s a Convenience Package for LX models that adds leather seats and a power driver’s seat. Two additional option packages, Luxury and Premium, are only available on 2023 Borrego EX.
The Luxury Package includes chrome wheels, leather upholstery, an electric tilt/telescopic steering column, a memory function for the driver’s seat, and heated front seats. The Premium Package adds side skirts, a sunroof, a 10-speaker Infinity sound system, rear climate controls, and a rear backup camera. Additional options for the EX include a rear-seat DVD entertainment system and voice-activated navigation.
2023 Kia Borrego : Interior
Inside, the cabin is simple and subtle, while a sensible line layout keeps the various controls relatively easy to use. The optional leather seats are comfortable and supportive, though not as much as the Hermes handbag. The third-row seats are relatively easy to stow and deploy, but with all the seats up, cargo capacity is negligible at 12.4 cubic feet. And Borrego’s lack of an electric tailgate is disappointing, especially considering Kia’s claim of “more luxury for the money”.
2023 Kia Borrego : Engine
Two engine options are available for the Kia Borrego: the 3.8-liter V6 produces 276 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, and the 4.6-liter V8 produces 337 hp and 323 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are available with either rear-wheel drive or full-time all-wheel drive. All six-cylinder models are paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, while the V8s have a six-speed automatic transmission. A fully loaded V8 sprinted from zero to 100 km/h on our test track in 7.8 seconds. Towing capacities for a properly equipped Kia Borrego are 5,000 pounds for the V6 model and class-leading 7,500 pounds for the V8. Estimated fuel economy for the Kia Borrego ranges from 17 mpg city/21 mpg highway and 19 mpg for the rear-wheel drive V6 drivetrain to 15/20/17 mpg for the 4WD V8.
2023 Kia Borrego : Safety
The Kia Borrego comes standard with anti-lock disc brakes, traction, and stability control, downhill brake control, hill assist control, front-seat side airbags and full-size side curtain airbags with rollover sensors. Equipped with a 2023 Kia Borrego also includes a driver’s knee airbag as standard.
