The Dodge has 17.2 cubic feet of space behind the third-row seats, 43.3 cubic feet with the third-row seats folded, and a maximum of 85.1 cubic feet with each rear seat folded. A manual tailgate comes standard, and a power tailgate is also available.

Dodge offers the Durango with four different engine options: 293-horsepower 3.6-liter V6, 360-horsepower 5.7-liter V8, 475-horsepower 6.4-liter V8 (SRT 392), and 710-horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8. (SRT Hellcat). 8-eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive are standard, and all-wheel drive is available. The base six-cylinder engine feels capable when cruising around town or accelerating on the highway.
The 6.4-liter engine has a louder exhaust note and drops the zero-to-60 dash to 5 seconds. The top-of-the-line Hellcat is a behemoth, it goes from zero to 60 mph in about 3.5 seconds and can reach a top speed of 180 mph. With the V6 engine, Durango gets an EPA-estimated 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway (18/25 mpg on all-wheel-drive models). Durango models with the 5.7-liter V8 are rated at just 14/22 mpg city/highway, while those with the 6.4-liter V8 get 13/19 mpg, Durango Hellcat gained an average of 12/17 mpg.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Dodge Durango an overall safety rating of four out of five stars. All models received five stars in the side crash test and four stars in the frontal crash test. In the rollover test, rear-wheel-drive Durangos received four stars, while all-wheel-drive models received three stars. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the 2024 Durango its highest rating of Good in three crash tests and the second-lowest rating of Marginal in the small overlap front driver’s side test. 2024 Durango standard driver assistance features include Adaptive cruise control, rearview camera, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
