2025 Ford Edge
The 2025 Ford Edge is a crossover SUV series produced by Ford Motor Company. The Edge is the first midsize CUV that Ford markets in North America. Ford Edge is positioned between the Ford Escape and Ford Explorer within the Ford product line. The Ford Edge shares its underpinnings with the Ford Fusion sedan, which spawned the model line as the Lincoln MKX. The second generation is also marketed by Ford Europe, positioned between the Kuga (Escape) and Explorer PHEV.
But Edge rivals like the Hyundai Santa Fe, Honda Passport, and Jeep Grand Cherokee. There’s a sporty ST model available, the Edge, which has a 335-hp twin-turbo V-6 engine and brings some athleticism, but the ST’s price puts the Edge in the same range as its corporate sibling, the Lincoln Nautilus. power, a sleeker design, and a richer cabin. The Ford Edge, as well as the Nautilus, are available from Ford Canada in Oakville Assembly. The third generation, released in 2023, is called Edge L and is initially produced and sold only in China.
2025 Ford Edge : Interior
Inside, the Edge’s two-row cabin is a comfortable place to commute or cruise. The materials in the cabin are nicely chosen, but the panel fit and finish could have been better. The two-row crossover segment is a great enabler, the rear seats were folded down, and the Edge could fit 29 pieces of carry-on luggage. Ford rivals all come close in luggage space, but the Edge’s thoughtful storage compartments and slightly larger cabin could seal the deal. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and can operate over a wireless connection.
Ford also offers a Wi-Fi hotspot on all Edge models, but in-car navigation remains an optional feature. On folding down the rear seat, this SUV can carry 73.4 cubic feet of cargo, which is less than many other midsize SUVs. A manual tailgate is standard. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, especially on models with heating, ventilation, and passenger height adjusters.
Rear seat comfort and support are provided in less time due to the thin padding and flat cushions. Two complete sets of LATCH connectors are available for the rear outboard seats. There’s also a tie-down anchor for the middle rear seat, and you can borrow the lower anchors from the outer seats when they’re not in use.
2025 Ford Edge : Engine
The Ford Edge base turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 250 horsepower, which should be enough power for most customers despite its mediocre acceleration. If you’re looking for an SUV that can keep up with the Volkswagen Golf GTI and many other fast cars from zero to 60 mph, check the box for the 335-hp twin-turbocharged Edge ST. The Edge comes to fuel economy, with four-cylinder models getting EPA ratings of up to 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, while the sporty ST model is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. Notably, some four-cylinder model configurations are rated at only 20 mpg city. On our 75-mph fuel-economy loop, the four-cylinder ST-Line model underdelivered, netting just 24 mpg. In the same test, the six-cylinder ST was slightly more efficient, managing 25 mpg, matching its estimate.
2025 Ford Edge : Safety
Many desirable driver assistance technologies, such as automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring, are offered as standard, and more advanced features are also available as options. Crash test results will be available at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keep assist.
