2025 Honda CR-V
The 2025 Honda CR-V is a compact crossover SUV manufactured by Honda. The 2025 Honda CR-V is available in six trim levels: LX, EX, Sport, EX-L, Sport-L, and Sport Touring. LX, EX, and EX-L trims come with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while Sport, Sport-L, and Sport Touring come with a hybrid powertrain for improved fuel economy. The 2025 CR-V Sport-L bridges the gap between the Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid trims, and like those two, it’s only available as a hybrid.
The Sport-L has leather seats, a four-way power passenger seat, front and rear parking sensors, a wireless charging pad, satellite radio, driver memory, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the 2025 Honda CR-V Sport-L comes standard with a 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and an eight-speaker audio system that betters the Sport’s six-speaker setup but falls short of the Sport Touring’s Bose-branded 12-speaker system.
The CR-V offers plenty of usable space, friendly driving dynamics, front- or all-wheel drive, and reliably good performance with a 190-hp turbocharged engine and an optional 204-hp hybrid version, the hybrid powertrain delivers a whopping 40 mpg combined. The CR-V is our favorite in the wildly popular compact crossover segment, even with stiff competition from the Mazda CX-50, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Kia Sportage.
2025 Honda CR-V : Interior
Inside, the interior is highlighted by a honeycomb-textured insert that covers most of the dashboard and discreetly hides the air vents. Honda says the front seats have been designed to reduce driver fatigue on long journeys, and the 2025 CR-V’s driving position has been improved. A large center console bin sits between front-seat passengers, and behind them are reclining rear seats with an extra 0.6 inches of rear legroom over the outgoing 2025 CR-V. There are 36 cubic feet of cargo space behind the second row, and with the adjustable load floor in its lowest position, gas-only models have 39 cubic feet of cargo space.
The CR-V’s infotainment system operates via a 7.0-inch touchscreen on LX, EX, and Sport trim levels. In addition to physical volume and adjustment buttons, the setup also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto features. EX-L and Sport Touring models feature a 9.0-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the larger screen doesn’t have a tuning knob, there is a volume rocker that accompanies built-in navigation, plus two USB-C ports and wireless smartphone charging for backseat passengers. Those who want the 12-speaker Bose audio system will have to turn to the top-of-the-line CR-V Sport Touring.
2025 Honda CR-V : Engine
The 2025 Honda CR-V is powered by a standard 190-hp turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine. CR-V Sport and Sport Touring only come with a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors, providing a total of 204 horsepower. The Sport can be had with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the latter is standard on the Sport Touring. The Sport Touring Hybrid hit 60 mph in 7.9 seconds; The non-hybrid EX-L needed a little more time and completed the same test in 8.3 seconds. Every CR-V is equipped with hill descent control, which helps regulate the compact SUV’s speed on steep or slippery descents when traveling at low speeds.
The Honda CR-V powertrain options mean you have to choose between a 190-hp 1.5-liter gas engine and a 204-hp hybrid unit consisting of a 2.0-liter and two electric motors. The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder front-wheel-drive CR-V gets EPA estimates of 28 mpg city and 34 mpg highway, while the most fuel-efficient CR-V is the front-wheel-drive Sport Hybrid. It achieves 43 mpg city and 36 mpg highway. On our real-world 75 mph highway fuel economy route, both the Sport Touring Hybrid and the non-hybrid EX-L recorded 31 mpg.
2025 Honda CR-V : Safety
