The 2017 Aston Martin Rapide is a 4-door, 4-seater high-performance sports sedan launched by British luxury brand Aston Martin in early 2010. The 2017 Aston Martin Rapide S is the only model and equipment in the company’s sedan portfolio. The name Rapide is a reference to the Lagonda Rapide, a luxury car by Lagonda, now part of Aston Martin. The 2017 Aston Martin Rapide is the company’s first four-door sedan since the Aston Martin Lagonda was discontinued in 1989.
Aston Martin Rapide is based on the Aston Martin DB9 and shares the same VH platform. The first cars rolled out in May 2010, initially built at a dedicated plant at the Magna Steyr facility in Graz, Austria. The factory initially planned to build 2,000 a year but moved to England in 2012 after sales did not meet production targets. It’s only available in one trim and is powered by a 6.0-liter V12 engine (552 horsepower, 465 pound-feet of torque) that sends power to the rear wheels via an eight-speed shiftable automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is not available.
