2025 BMW i7 : Interior
Inside, the BMW i7 offers a premium class in interior quality and luxury, and comes standard with leather upholstery, while the panels, consoles, and other touch points are covered in leather or synthetic leather. Wood, brushed metal, or carbon fiber accents and customizable ambient cabinet lighting add visual interest. Although the i7 leans heavily on the touchscreen, the few physical controls operate with satisfying weight and resistance and also suppress road and wind noise for a library-quiet ride.
The i7 comes standard with a massive, curved widescreen display that seamlessly combines a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. The display takes up most of the dashboard and features clear, modern graphics and an intuitive user interface. However, the streamlined interior design comes with the cost of physical controls. Frequently used functions such as temperature and fan speed settings are transferred to touch-sensitive virtual “sliders” or accessed via the touchscreen. BMW adds to the i7 a minimal, futuristic design of the cabin, the poking and shifting can be distracting while driving, and some functions can also be operated via voice commands.
2025 BMW i7 : Engine
BMW equips the base 2024 i7 eDrive50 with a 101.7 kWh battery and a single electric motor driving the rear wheels; this combination is rated at 449 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. The middle version, xDrive60, adds an all-wheel-drive configuration and a second motor at the front axle for a total of 536 horsepower and 549 pound-feet of torque. The top-of-the-line M70 uses an upgraded rear axle motor and produces up to 650 horsepower and 811 pound-feet of torque. The BMW i7 gets an EPA-estimated 74 to 87 MPG in city driving, 80 to 95 MPGe on the highway, and 77 to 90 MPGe in combined city and highway driving. The xDrive60 can travel 317 miles, while the high-performance M70 xDrive is rated at 291 miles.
The BMW i7 xDrive60 offers an estimated driving range of 318 miles per charge. On our highway fuel-economy test route, we managed to get 260 mph out of our xDrive60 test vehicle rolling on 21-inch wheels. The EPA says the eDrive50 should run up to 321 miles per charge, and the M70 model should deliver up to 291 miles per charge. The car’s large 101.7 kWh battery pack can be connected to DC fast charging stations, and it is said that such a connection can add 80 miles of range in just 10 minutes. BMW includes the BMW i7 in free 30-minute charging sessions for three years at Electrify America charging stations.
2025 BMW i7 : Safety
The 2025 BMW i7 has yet not been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Will come with a number of driver-assistance features that are standard, and more advanced technology is available as an option.
