Integrated navigation is also standard on Premium Luxury and Sport models, as is a 14-speaker Bose Performance Series audio system. The XT5 comes with five seats as standard with synthetic leather upholstery and heated front seats, leather upholstery, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel available. The front bucket seats are comfortable and supportive, and there’s plenty of legroom for tall drivers. Although the seats are not as luxurious as some competitors, they are very comfortable for all types of driving. There are two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the rear outboard seats and one tether anchor for the rear middle seat.

The XT5’s standard turbocharged four-cylinder produces 235 horsepower, and the optional V-6 produces 310 ponies. With neither engine, it can’t compete with performance-focused rivals like the 340-hp Porsche Macan S. However, Caddy’s performance is advantageous compared to less aggressive models such as Lexus RX350 and Volvo XC60. However, under heavy throttle, the sound of the larger engine makes itself felt in a less than pleasant way. The XT5 can handle it with confidence, even when equipped with the optional adaptive suspension, it won’t raise the hairs on the back of your neck.

The standard turbocharged four-cylinder front-wheel-drive XT5s achieve EPA fuel economy estimates of 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. Switching to the V-6 drops mpg to 19 cities, 26 highways, and 21 combined. The addition of optional all-wheel drive on both models lowers those estimates slightly; a small compromise to ensure greater confidence in inclement weather conditions. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, an all-wheel-drive XT5 with a V-6 engine produced 23 mpg, while a front-wheel-drive model with a turbocharged four-cylinder managed 29 mpg.
