The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is a full-size SUV on the market sold by Nissan, Infiniti. The production version is expected to remain petrol-powered rather than electric. The QX80 has a lot in common with the more common Nissan Armada, which costs tens of thousands less. The two even share the same 400-horsepower V8, which makes them authoritative even when pumping gas. The Infiniti QX80 is described as luxury, especially with its quiet interior and quiet ride, many will wonder if it has what it takes to compete with luxury rivals like the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, or Range Rover.

While the QX80 can seat adults back there, several competitors offer roomier configurations. The Infiniti comes with second-level captain’s chairs that can be upgraded to three seats. Infiniti modernized the Infiniti QX80‘s infotainment system by ditching the old dual-screen display, which has not changed, and replacing it with a larger and more intuitive 12.3-inch touchscreen. The car includes the brand’s InTouch connectivity services and standard car navigation, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay, the latter now accessible wirelessly, optional theater package adds a USB port and a 120-volt outlet.

The Infinity QX80 is featured with a 400-horsepower V8 engine. Acceleration from zero to 60 mph takes about 6 seconds, according to independent testing, making the QX80 one of the slowest luxury SUVs available today. That’s not surprising given its nearly 6,000-pound curb weight, but similarly heavy SUVs use lighter turbocharged engines for faster performance. The seven-speed transmission is responsive but likes to keep the gears up to save more fuel. The rear-wheel-drive QX80 gets 16 mpg in combined city/highway driving (14 mpg/20 mpg highway), according to the EPA.

Adding all-wheel drive drops those ratings to 15 mpg combined (13/19 mpg city/highway), making the QX80 one of the most fuel-efficient large SUVs on the road. The QX80 can tow 8,500 pounds in the rear or all-wheel drive configuration, which exceeds Mercedes’ average by 800 pounds. The QX80 has poor fuel economy. QX80 is rated at 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway, competitors have much better ratings. Additionally, the version is tested on our 75 mph freeway route, part of our extensive testing program, did not perform as well, earning 17 mpg in this real-world test.

It has not been crash-tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
