2023 Kia Carnival
The 2023 Kia Carnival is a minivan manufactured by Kia. The 2023 Kia Carnival is marketed worldwide under various nameplates, prominently as Kia Sedona. The 2023 Kia Sedona does not stand up to the segment leaders much. Its handsome design gives it the kind of SUV look that diverges from the sleek silhouettes of the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey, but its cabin lacks the flexibility these two rivals offer. The KIA Carnival also lags behind in the driver assistance section, for example, none of Kia’s high-tech crash avoidance technology is available on the base model, and these features remain optional on the mid-range 2023 Carnival EX.
That said, the 2023 Sedona is a good value proposition among minivans: The base model offers many standard comfort features, and the top-of-the-line SX boasts second-row recliners with footrests, providing a truly luxurious experience. The best value in the 2023 Sedona range can be found in the middle of the road EX. In addition to the LX’s offerings, this equipment adds roof rails, keyless entry, push-button start, 18-inch aluminum wheels, heated front seats, rear window sunshades, leather upholstery, and a wireless smartphone charging pad.
2023 Kia Carnival : Interior
Inside, the 2023 Kia Carnival cabin is roomy, at least. Luxury-minded buyers will want to look into the high-end SX, which has reclining captain seats in place of second-row seats. First and second-row passengers will find plenty of room to lie down; Small children in the third row will be fine, but older children may feel boredom. All models come with a two-tone color theme that breaks up the normally monotonous black interior. The materials feel high-quality, but they could benefit from some cushioning or soft-touch finishes on the armrests and center console.
In the cargo room test, the Sedona fell far behind all its competitors due to the second-row seats that tilt and slide but cannot be removed or stowed on the floor. Small storage space is especially good for front-seat passengers but pales in comparison to what the Pacifica offers. The 2023 Sedona buyers have plenty of options in the infotainment section. All models have USB and Bluetooth connectivity. An optional rear-seat entertainment system mounts 10.0-inch touchscreens behind the front headrests.
2023 Kia Carnival : Engine
Sedona’s V-6 is well suited to the man-handling mission and rarely transmits any harshness to the cabin. City driving is stress-free, but getting the Sedona up to highway speeds requires free use of the accelerator pedal. This Kia handles it competently, but doesn’t inspire back-road rowdy – it’s a minivan, after all. Unlike the Toyota Sienna, all-wheel drive is not an option here; Nor is the hybrid drivetrain, which will soon be a standard feature on the Toyota van.
The Sedona’s ride is calm on smooth pavement, but it doesn’t absorb uneven surfaces the way the Chrysler Pacifica does. Sedona is rated by the EPA as an 18 mpg city and 24 mpg highway. We didn’t get a chance to put a 2023 model in our highway fuel-economy test, but one model of this generation delivered a respectable (but not nearly as class-leading) 25 mpg.
2023 Kia Carnival : Safety
Sedona received top marks from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in crash testing. Sedona also got good marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety but missed out on the Best Safety Choice award due to poorly performing headlights. Several driver assistance features are available, but not many are standard, and high-tech active steering features are not available. 2023 Kia Carnival safety features include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and a lane departure warning system.
