Lexus 2024 RZ takes a more minimalist approach to cabin design, controls are operated via a large 14.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen.

The entry-level Premium trim comes right away with desirable features like a panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, all-wheel drive, a power-adjustable steering column, and more. Upgrading to the Luxury trim adds a Mark Levinson stereo system and multi-color interior ambient lighting, but its larger wheels reduce the RZ’s driving range, so we’d stick with the slightly cheaper Premium model instead.

Inside, the interior of the Lexus RZ 450e offers a premium and comfortable cabin. It has quality materials such as Ultrasuede upholstery made from plant-derived raw materials and a stylish and simple dashboard design. The 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system is intuitive and easy to use, and the cabin provides ample space for both front and rear passengers. Similar approaches have been applied to Tesla and Polestar’s EV models, with different results.

Either way, the Lexus RZ’s cabin is roomy and looks quite luxurious for a small crossover, most surfaces are covered in faux suede or synthetic leather. A large 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen dominates the RZ’s dashboard and is similar to the screen found on the gas-powered NX SUV. Lexus says the driver can interact with the system by touching the screen and also using voice commands. A digital instrument display and head-up display are also included. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, both with wireless connectivity, are standard.

The Lexus RZ 450e electric is equipped with an all-electric Direct4 powertrain, the dual-motor arrangement is good for 308 horsepower and comes standard with all-wheel drive. In testing, the RZ450e hit 60 mph in 4.6 seconds. A steer-by-wire steering system is standard, and Lexus has confirmed that a fork-style steering wheel will be available as an option; a regular circular wheel would be standard. The Lexus
RZ 450 will use the same 63.4 kWh battery pack as the bZ4X and Solterra. The official fuel economy estimates for the RZ450e show it to be more efficient with standard 18-inch wheels, with EPA ratings of 115 MPGe city and 98 MPGe highway.

The Lexus RZ 450e has several safety features to ensure occupant protection. Lexus RZ 450e received Euro NCAP safety ratings, with high scores for adult and child occupant protection as well as safety assist systems. Like many other new Lexus models, the Lexus RZ 450e will be offered a full suite of standard driver-assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and automatic emergency braking. Additional features, including automatic parking, will be optional.
