2023 Lincoln MKX
The 2023 Lincoln MKX is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV marketed and sold by Ford Motor Company’s Lincoln brand. The 2023 Lincoln MKX is a luxury crossover with a cushioned ride and a long list of standard features. Beneath its handsome exterior, the MKX shares its platform and powertrain with the Ford Edge, but while the top-of-the-line models are a bit pricey, it’s undeniable that the MKX has done an excellent job of hiding its Ford heritage. The standard 303-hp, 3.7-liter V6 feels a bit unimportant, while the optional 335-hp, 2.7-liter turbo V6 is smooth and provides effortless propulsion.
The only blow against the 2023 MKX is its rather unimpressive fuel economy of 18 mpg overall. Handling is athletic, making the MKX fun to drive, and the ride is stable and calm. Tall riders will likely find the push button switcher too far away. The very quiet cabin has a premium feel with plenty of wood, brushed metal, and leather surfaces. The convenience variant featured includes a 360-degree camera, cross-traffic alert, parking and lane-keeping assist, and automatic braking. MyLincoln Touch has been replaced by a much better Sync 3 infotainment system.
2023 Lincoln MKX : Interior
Lincoln did an overall good job at separating the inside of the MKX from the Ford Edge. One area of concern is the center console, which we said looks too plain and flexible for a luxury SUV in this price range. Soft leather seats and ample space for first or second-row passengers help the MKX capture the positives. Higher trims create an even more elegant first impression, thanks to features like the open-pore wood trim and the massive panoramic sunroof. The cargo room behind the rear seat comes with a generous capacity of 37.2 cubic feet, increasing to 68.8 cubic feet when the rear seat backs are folded down.
The MKX finally got the tech upgrade, featured with an 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard and includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. Other standard technical touches include multiple USB ports, Bluetooth, and a 10-speaker sound system with satellite radio. The Ford Sync 3 interface is faster and easier to use than the cumbersome infotainment system Lincoln had to use before. Options such as navigation and two premium Revel stereo options are available.
2023 Lincoln MKX : Engine
The base drivetrain in the 2023 MKX consists of a 3.7-liter V-6 and a six-speed automatic transmission that can be equipped with either front or all-wheel drive. This engine can produce 303 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. But what really pleases the crowd is the optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6. While it only provides a modest horsepower advantage, the torque on the 335 is what makes this drivetrain a better choice. With 380 pound-feet offered at 3000rpm, the turbo V-6 has a significant advantage, with the performance kick reaching roughly 1000rpm sooner than the base model. The EPA fuel economy testing and monitoring steps have changed over time.
2023 Lincoln MKX : Safety
Crash test ratings have been good from both the federal government and an insurer-sponsored agency. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded 5 stars overall for front and side-impact collisions. Typically for longer vehicles, the calculated four-star rollover rating is based on the vehicle’s center of gravity. The MKX scored well in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. Superior rating for frontal collision avoidance only applies when equipped with optional automatic emergency braking. Lincoln’s driver assistance Package also includes active lane assist, an adaptive cruise system, and emergency braking with pedestrian detection.
