2023 Lincoln MKZ
The 2023 Lincoln MKZ is a four-door, five-passenger midsize luxury sedan manufactured by Ford and marketed as the 2023 Lincoln Zephyr for two generations in both petrol and hybrid gas/electric models, and the MKZ by Ford’s Lincoln brand. The 2023 MKZ is manufactured at Ford’s Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Mexico.
Lincoln instills enough style into the aging Lincoln MKZ that fans of the brand will love it. The 2023 Lincoln MKZ also offers all-wheel drive, a powerful twin-turbo V-6, and a frugal hybrid version. The standard four-cylinder engine is unremarkable. Every MKZ is equipped with a comfortable cabin and generous driver assistance technology; We wish the whole experience was as compelling as the automaker’s other offerings.
2023 Lincoln MKZ : Interior
The MKZ uses the SYNC 3 infotainment system found on many Ford and Lincoln vehicles. The center console has few physical controls and the touchscreen is responsive, but navigating through menus can be a bit overwhelming. The standard infotainment system includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, an 11-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, two USB ports, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The infotainment features available are two rear-seat USB ports, navigation, HD Radio, and a 14 or 20-speaker Revel stereo. Additional standard features include a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster, push-button start, remote start, close keyless entry, and dual-zone automatic climate control.
2023 MKZ Lincoln has two complete sets of LATCH connectors for the outer rear seats and a tie-down anchor for the rear middle seat. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave this LATCH system the second highest Acceptable rating for ease of use, noting that the lower anchors are located deep into the seats. Lincoln has a body of 15.4 cubic feet. While this is fine for a luxury mid-size car, the narrow opening can make it difficult to load items. Due to the placement of the lithium-ion battery pack, the Lincoln MKZ Hybrid has a smaller body.
2023 Lincoln MKZ : Engine
The MKZ base engine is a 245 hp turbo four-cylinder that will likely satisfy most buyers, with both good on-road fuel economy and easy power delivery. Drivers who aren’t in a rush will appreciate the optional twin-turbo V-6 engine that delivers 350 horsepower on front-wheel drive models and 400 horsepower on all-wheel-drive models. The EPA estimates the front-wheel drive, four-cylinder MKZ will gain 20 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. Adding all-wheel drive doesn’t affect the city score, but reduces the highway count by 2 mpg (29 total). More powerful V-6 versions have estimates of 18 mpg city and 27 highway and 17/26 mpg city/highway. Those looking for the most efficient MKZ will want the hybrid model with 42 mpg city and 39 highway ratings.
2023 Lincoln MKZ : Safety
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the Lincoln MKZ its highest rating in five crash tests. IIHS uses a different scale to rate collision avoidance features. The MKZ 2023 sedan received the highest Superior rating for its standard vehicle-to-vehicle frontal collision avoidance system. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2023 MKZ and Lincoln MKZ Hybrid 2023 a global safety rating of 5 out of 5, with 5 stars in the lateral shock test and 4 stars in the frontal collision and cabotage tests.
