2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS-Class : Interior
Inside, the interior of the Mercedes-Maybach GLS is excellent in almost every aspect. The driving position is direct and commanding, you remain comfortable in the GLS. There’s plenty of room in all three rows, and adults over 6 feet tall can fit comfortably in the accessible third row. Large windows help with all-round visibility and make rear passengers feel a little claustrophobic. The controls are all well laid out and easy to reach, there are a lot of them and the small text means you’ll have to take your eyes off the road until you get your muscle memory working. It’s also annoying to separate the seat controls between the door and the infotainment system.
Two large 12.3-inch digital displays take up most of the instrument panel. One serves as the driver’s reconfigurable instrument display, while the other handles infotainment functions and runs Mercedes-Benz’s MBUX software, which includes an iPhone-like virtual assistant. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, in-car navigation, and a built-in Wi-Fi hotspot are standard. When all the lines are straight, the space is reduced to 17.4 cubes, which is not enough to carry the luggage of every passenger. Space in the Maybach GLS-Class is adequate for the class, but the GLS trails the larger Navigator by offering up to 103.3 cubic feet of space behind the front seats.
2025 Mercedes-Maybach GLS-Class : Engine
GLS-Class variants are available, the six-cylinder GLS450 and the eight-cylinder GLS580, and both include some hybridization. The GLS450’s turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine is as smooth as polished granite and increases from 362 horsepower to 375 horsepower. All models come with air suspension as standard, but Mercedes also offers a trick system called E-Active Body Control. It uses a 48-volt EQ Boost system for enhanced performance and a front-facing camera to scan bumps and adjust the suspension accordingly, making drivers feel less complete on the road.
EPA fuel economy ratings for the Maybach GLS class are not good. The Maybach GLS450 gets 18/23 mpg in city/highway. The Maybach GLS580 is more expensive, with 16 mpg, 21 mpg, and 18 mpg respectively.
