The Mazda CX-50 has been well-received for its combination of efficiency, style, and practicality. The Mazda CX-50 features a stylish and modern Kodo design.

2025 Mazda CX-50 : Interior
Inside, the Mazda CX-50 offers a premium feel with high-quality materials and a driver-focused layout. The cabin is spacious for its class, with comfortable seats and an intuitive infotainment system. The use of soft-touch materials and attention to detail enhance the overall ambiance. Like the Mazda CX-5 and Mazda CX-30 crossovers, the CX-50 offers space for five passengers in two rows of seats. Inside, large, square air vents on the dashboard give the 50 a slightly more truck-like appearance than the smaller Mazda CX-30, but the overall feel is tastefully upscale, especially in the loaded Premium Plus trim. The front seats are comfortable and supportive, but rear-seat space is below average for the segment, and it should be noted that the CX-5 Mazda 2025 offers more headroom.
All models come with a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, push-button start, and a partially digital instrument display. Mazda includes a good array of standard vehicle technology and driver aids with the CX-50. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connectivity are included in all trims, and there are plenty of USB-A ports for charging. A wireless charging pad is available, but we rarely power it with an iPhone. Mazda’s built-in navigation system is clear and easy to use, and you can use voice commands to enter addresses or change radio stations. The available Bose sound system is one of the best you can find in this class. The CX-50 includes standard driving aids, including blind-spot warning and adaptive cruise control. They work well and we didn’t notice any false alarms during our testing. The adaptive cruise control maintains good distances and will bring you to a complete stop in traffic.
2025 Mazda CX-50 : Engine
All 2025 Mazda CX-50 models come with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, but the must-have model is the more powerful turbocharged version that makes 256 horsepower. The base non-turbo version produces just 187 horsepower. A six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive are standard, and Mazda has tuned the CX-50 to provide sharp handling. Mazda continues the company’s tradition of offering vehicles that are fun to drive. During our test drive, we praised the CX-50 for its pleasant ride and precise handling while providing a comfortable ride. Mazda also offers the CX-50 Hybrid, a powertrain borrowed from the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid.
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 standard powertrain allows for a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 pounds while upgrading to the more powerful turbocharged engine provides a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds. The most efficient CX-50 is the base four-cylinder engine. This model gets 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, but the optional turbocharger boosts performance, reducing those figures by just 1 mpg. On our 75-mph highway fuel economy test route, the turbocharged CX-50 achieved 29 mpg.
2025 Mazda CX-50 : Safety
The Mazda CX-50 strongly emphasizes safety, integrating a comprehensive suite of advanced driver assistance features designed to enhance overall protection and peace of mind. Standard safety features typically include adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning with lane keep assist, which helps maintain a safe distance from the vehicle in front and prevents unintentional lane departures. The 2025 CX-50 also features automatic emergency braking, which can detect an imminent collision and apply the brakes if necessary to prevent or mitigate an accident. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert contribute to safer driving by alerting vehicles in the blind spot and when reversing. Additionally, the 2025 Mazda CX-50 is equipped with a rear-view camera, which makes parking and maneuvering in tight spaces easier. Overall, these safety technologies work together to provide a high level of driver confidence and protection.
