2023 Mitsubishi Lancer
The 2023 Mitsubishi Lancer is a car manufactured by the Japanese manufacturer Mitsubishi. The Lancer was marketed at different times in various countries as Colt Lancer, Dodge Colt, Plymouth Colt, Chrysler Valiant Lancer, Chrysler Lancer, Eagle Summit, Hindustan Lancer, Soueast Lioncel, and Mitsubishi Mirage and sold as Mitsubishi Galant. Mitsubishi Lancer was also sold in Taiwan as the Mitsubishi Lancer Fortis with a different facelift than the Galant Fortis. In Japan, Mitsubishi Lancer was sold at a certain retail chain called Car Plaza.
Mitsubishi Lancer powered with a standard 148-hp four-cylinder, front-wheel drive, and a five-speed manual or optional CVT. The 168-hp quad with all-wheel drive is optional. The basic ES is bare-bones but wallet-friendly. Mitsubishi Lancer SE offers heated seats, and SEL adds leather and rain-sensitive wipers. All models have a standard rearview camera. Despite recent tweaks, the Lancer still follows its more modern competition.
2023 Mitsubishi Lancer : Interior
Inside, the 2023 Lancer’s infotainment and voice command systems are frustrating to use, due to their slow response to user input. The Mitsubishi Lancer comes standard with automatic climate control, a four-speaker audio system, a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a voice command system. Available features include a nine-speaker Rockford Fosgate sound system, satellite radio, upgraded 7-inch touchscreen, navigation, sunroof, and proximity key input.
Mitsubishi Lancer has five seats. Fabric upholstery comes standard; leather upholstery and heated front seats. Both rows of seats provide ample comfort and space. However, taller passengers may want more thigh support. The Lancer’s cabin looks and feels dated, with hard plastics and other cheap materials covering most surfaces. Mitsubishi Lancer’s outer rear seats feature complete sets of LATCH connectors for mounting car seats. The middle seat has only one upper link.
2023 Mitsubishi Lancer : Engine
The Lancer ES 2.0 comes standard with a 148-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a five-speed manual transmission. All-wheel drive models come with a 168-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. Lancer Mitsubishi comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) offered with the base engine. The base engine puts out enough power for most driving situations. However, it is quite noisy under sudden acceleration, especially when paired with the existing CVT. The 2.4-liter engine is more refined and offers faster acceleration.
The Mitsubishi Lancer comes with front-wheel drive and is one of the few compact cars with all-wheel drive. With the base engine and CVT, the 2023 Lancer returns 27 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway. These are some of the lowest fuel economies estimates in its class. Models with the 2.4-liter engine get up to 23/30 mpg in city/highway.
2023 Mitsubishi Lancer : Safety
The Lancer received an overall four out of five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Mitsubishi Lancer earned four stars in front, side, and rollover crash ratings. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave the Lancer the second-highest Acceptable rating in the small overlap frontal crash test. 2023 Lancer received the highest rating of Good in the other four crash ratings. The Lancer has fewer active safety features than most of its competitors. Mitsubishi Lancer has a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.
