2024 Peugeot 5008
The 2024 Peugeot 5008 is a series of cars produced by the French manufacturer Peugeot. The Peugeot 5008 SUV reinvigorates the modernity of its silhouette with grace and maturity, striking the perfect balance between power and elegance. Unlike the previous generation, which was a pure MPV, the 5008 is an SUV that follows the sales trend. In fact, it is an extended version of the 3008 that was introduced a few months ago. Specific elements include a distinctive front grille and front bumper, and a chrome arch that extends across the entire pavilion to the bottom of the rear window.
Likewise, the interior essentially occupies its cousin’s cockpit. In particular, there is an 8-inch fixed touchscreen, as well as a 12.3-inch high-resolution digital head-up panel. On the other hand, the wheelbase increased to 2.84 m, making it possible to significantly increase the capacity; now there are seven places divided into three rows. At first, the passenger seat can be shelved to load tall objects. The second row consists of three independent seats that are retractable and adjustable in length and inclination. Finally, the third row consists of two additional seats that can be folded or removed separately.
2024 Peugeot 5008 : Interior
Inside, the stylish interior and plenty of equipment help the seven-seater Peugeot 5008 stand out from the crowd. The small steering wheel and high-mounted instrument cluster remain the same, and Peugeot’s latest ‘i-Cockpit’ display with a 12.3-inch digital display behind the wheel. Like Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, it means you can change the layout of the dials, choose what to display, or show satellite navigation instructions right in front of you.
Peugeot’s 12.3-inch front panel display and infotainment touchscreen offer many technologies. All models feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while Allure hardware includes satellite navigation with three years of live updates. This adds features such as traffic information, local search, and weather forecasts. Peugeot’s resistance to using physical climate controls seems like a poor solution, with large panels on either side of the screen dedicated to temperature settings. These can never be scaled down, so the size of the rearview camera screen isn’t as sharp as it should be and also makes the system feel cheap in a custom cabin.
2024 Peugeot 5008 : Engine
The 2024 Peugeot 5008 is powered by petrol and diesel engines for comfortable and reasonable driving. The 5008 engine lineup is similar to the 3008 with 1.2 PureTech 130 petrol, 1.6 PureTech 180 turbo petrol, and 2.0 BlueHDi 180 diesel. The 5008 SUV with its 1.2-liter three-cylinder petrol engine may sound like a recipe for slow progress, but the unit’s turbocharger helps deliver a maximum torque of 230 Nm from just 1,750 rpm, meaning the 5008 actually offers pretty good performance. 0-62mph is reached in 9.9 seconds with a maximum of 117mph. The extra power of the 178bhp 1.6-liter PureTech means it manages the same sprint in 8.3 seconds.
The 1.5 BlueHDi diesel with 128bhp and 300Nm of torque is tuned to maintain the old 1.6 BlueHDi’s bestseller in the range and deliver the best economy figures. The 2.0-liter BlueHDi comes with 175bhp and is only available in GT and GT Premium with EAT8 automatic transmission as standard. 0-62mph times for both diesel variants are 11.1 seconds and 9.2 seconds respectively.
2024 Peugeot 5008 : Safety
The Peugeot 5008 is not offered in Driver Power customer satisfaction surveys, but the closely related 3008 has been a regular on the list of best cars to buy, with owners praising the car’s drive and handling, safety features, and infotainment system. Peugeot will be reassuringly safe by offering autonomous braking and lane departure warning as standard across the entire range, while Allure and above will have blind spot detection as well as high beam and lane-keeping assist functions. The five-star Euro NCAP rating the 2024 Peugeot 5008 achieved last year, is equal to the seven-seater, as it features the same safety technology.
