2023 RAM 3500

The 2023 RAM 3500 is pickup available in five major trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Laramie, Longhorn, and Limited. Normal cabin, crew cabin, and Mega Cab configurations match a standard bed or a long bed and rear or all-wheel drive. The 2023 Ram 3500 sits at the top of the brand’s product range as the largest and most capable truck available to consumers. 2023 RAM 3500 Mega Cab

The 2023 RAM 3500 has a distinctive grille flanked by equally powerful headlights. Ram letters dominate the grid, leaving you in no doubt as to what it is. In terms of exterior features, the lower trim models are equipped with halogen headlights, while the upper trim models get the LED treatment. The bottom two trims come standard with 18-inch steel wheels, the mid-range trims get 18-inch alloys, and the top-end Limited is equipped with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels.

At the front of the entry-level Regular Cab 3500 is a bench large enough for three passengers. Entry-level Crew Cab models add another bench to the rear that seats up to six people. High-end Crew Cab models have two separate seats at the front. The entry-level Craftsman is a fleet model equipped with enough luxury to keep the workforce happy including manual air conditioning, a 3.5-inch monochrome driver information display, and a 12-volt AC power outlet. Upgrade to Big Horn / Lone Star and get power windshields and a 3.5-inch color driver information display.

The Laramie adds keyless entry, a seven-inch infotainment cluster, heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats, a multi-function leather steering wheel, dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable pedals. The top-of-the-line Limited adds wireless charging, while the Limited Longhorn comes with seat ventilation and memory. For safety, the entire range includes a rearview camera, stability control, and hill start assist. Up from the Laramie, you also get front and rear parking assist, while the Limited adds blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

2023 RAM 3500 : Engine

All engine options are powerful and responsive, but diesel begs for an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ride quality and handling also stand out for the segment. The available 12.0-inch display is a welcome addition, as are the driver assistance features available. In addition to all its positive features, the 3500 has a lower price tag than its competitors. Ram offers the 3500 with a petrol V-8 and a diesel turbocharged inline-six. The 6.4-liter gas engine produces 410 hp and 429 lb-ft of torque, which is sent to the rear wheels or all-wheel drive system via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

RAM 3500 Mega Cab

The 6.7-liter turbocharged inline-six comes in two forms. Standard tuning develops 370 hp and 850 lb-ft of torque. The alternative “high output” version produces an impressive 420 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque.  The EPA does not test heavy-duty trucks for fuel economy, so no figures are available for the Ram 3500.

2023 RAM 3500 : Performance

The standard 6.4-liter Hemi produces 410 horsepower. That’s good enough to carry a payload of 7 680 pounds. The available 6.7-liter High Output Cummins Turbo Diesel delivers 1 075 lb-ft of torque on tap, so you can pull in over 37,000 lbs. 2023 RAM 3500 : Safety

There are no safety reviews for the 2023 Ram 3500 from NHTSA or IIHS. However, despite the lack of reviews, the standard security features are reassuring. All RAM 3500 models come standard with six airbags, a rearview camera, electronic roll reduction, electronic stability control, hill start assist, trailer sway control and ABS. The Laramie feature adds front and rear parking sensors, while the top-of-the-line Limited completes the standard package with blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. The security group package is available and the cost depends on which model you choose. 2023 RAM 3500 adds adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, cross path detection, and forward collision warning.
