2025 VinFast VF8
The 2025 VinFast VF 8 (formerly 2025 VinFast VF8) is a battery-electric mid-size crossover manufactured and marketed by Vingroup’s VinFast. VinFast launched the two-row, five-seat VF8 SUV in the United States last year, challenging electric crossovers like the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Nissan Ariya. The Vf8 model made its debut in the electric car lineup of Vietnamese automaker VinFast in the second half of January 2022, which also marks the beginning of a planned expansion into global markets.
In the United States, VinFast opened six dealerships in California, and an assembly plant in Chatham County, North Carolina, and broke ground with production in summer 2023. VinFast VF7, VinFast VF8, and VinFast VF9 are scheduled to launch from 2025. The 2025 VinFast VF 8 is a crossover with rounded proportions that combines chrome trim with double-strip headlights at the front of the body. Narrow LED daytime running lights are separated by a chrome bar, below which the rest of the headlights are located. The car was styled by Pininfarina, with VinFast’s design team led by director David Lyon.
2025 VinFast VF8 : Interior
The instrument cluster features a two-tone aesthetic highlighted by a large multimedia system touchscreen along with avant-garde-designed drive mode switches in the center tunnel. The traditional instrument cluster has been replaced by a central multimedia display and a head-up display projected onto the windshield. The 2025 VF8 is sold only as a two-row, five-seat SUV, and passenger space in both rows is plentiful, expected an interior with the same level of luxury as the BMW iX. VinFast’s internal quality needs to be improved.
Just like in Tesla, the instruments are focused on a central display and head-up display. The interior has a somewhat traditional style and relies heavily on plastic; The large sunroof helps illuminate the comfortable cabin. The VinFast VF8 also uses a tailgate for extra cargo space in case you reach the maximum capacity of the rear cargo area. The massive 15.6-inch display mounted on the dashboard serves as an infotainment touchscreen as well as a digital instrument display, a design similar to that on the Tesla Model Y. The head-up display also projects critical information onto the windshield in front of the driver. Thus, those who do not like the idea of looking to the right to check the speed will be able to access this information directly.
A voice assistant is included, allowing users to interact with the system without touching the screen. There are other features to help pass the time while charging, like built-in video games and an e-commerce service embedded in the software. We want to keep tech-obsessed buyers away once they get a chance to use the VinFast infotainment interface. The system is slow and unintuitive, which will disappoint anyone expecting similar capability on a modern smartphone.
2025 VinFast VF8 : Engine
VinFast VF8 EV is powered by an all-wheel-drive electric powertrain with two electric motors. The base model produces 349 horsepower with 369 pound-feet of torque. The Zippier Plus model increases output to 402 horsepower and 457 pound-feet of torque. At our test track, the 402-hp model hit 60 mph in just 5.0 seconds. Its value is acceleration, and the VF8’s road manners were not up to par with the larger EV SUV segment. VF8 ride is less stable than the Ariya, and its handling lacked the inspiring nature of the Mustang Mach-E.
VinFast heard our criticisms, VinFast says it has made changes to the VinFastVF8’s suspension for 2024. The Eco and trims both use an 87.7 kWh battery; The Eco can travel an estimated 264 miles on a charge, and the Plus model has a range of 243 miles. VinFast says its battery can DC fast charge from 10 percent to 70 percent in just 31 minutes. The EPA has not yet released fuel economy ratings for the 2024 VF8, which uses an 87.7 kWh battery.
2025 VinFast VF8 : Safety
